trips in Beqa Lagoon are a kaliascope of hard and soft corals and an
abundance of fish and other marine life. The great pinnacles of Beqa Lagoon,
a submerged volcano and one of the largest Lagoons in the world, are just a

our size, dive groups are small and our friendly Fijian staff will make all
dives personalized and catered to your needs, Cruise the sandy bottomed
canyons between Beqa’s coral pinnacles and You’ll likely spot white tip reef
sharks taking an afternoon snooze. Duck into a swim through and introduce
yourself to our photogenic lionfish. Schools of barracuda and trevally will
check you out as they swim by. The elusive Blue Ribbon Eels are out at
nearly every dive site. And the top of the bommies are so covered in soft
corals and schools of swarming fish that our safety stops are hard to leave.
For the little critter seekers, our shore dive, called
Jayne’s Lane after owner and every day out front diver Jayne Carlson, is a
treasure chest of the small and well hidden marine life. Take your time and
you’ll discover everything from ghost pipefish to juvenile frog fish to sea
horses. Click on Jayne’s Lane for a gallery of what Jayne is finding…right

Perhaps a wedding in
paradise appeals to you?
Lalati Resort can customize your wedding to perfection. A gazebo,
garlanded with tropical flowers, set on lush rainforest beachfront,
surrounds you while you make your precious vows. Two Fijian warriors dressed
in traditional garb escort the bride to the waiting groom. The officiating
administrator may perform a Christian or civil service with customized vows
as the Pacific sun and gently lapping waves of
Malamu
Bay witness your union.
An angelic Fijian choir will serenade you with traditional wedding songs
adding their joyful music to this fantasy wedding. After the official
wedding ceremony we continue with traditional champagne toasts to the
newlyweds and then the real Fijian celebration begins. First is the
traditional and sacred Kava ceremony. Following, is a Meke, where the
Fijians perform the musical and dance numbers that they are so well known
for. Finally you will partake in the lavish celebratory Fijian feast called
a Lovo, which is cooked to perfection in a traditional hot stone, pit oven.
And of course Beato’s wedding cake is the perfect “icing on the cake” |

Culture
Fiji and South Pacific
culture go hand in hand. Come and experience the warm, friendly Fijian
people. English is widely spoken here but you will of course hear Fijian
spoken. Since it is a multi-cultural country, don’t be surprised if you
happen to hear Hindi as well. The most common Fijian word you
hear will be Bula (pronounced as "Boo-lah") This is the Fijian way of
saying 'Hello'.
Beqa (pronounced “Benga”) is the ancestral home of
Fiji
Islands’ fierce and
famous Fire Walkers. The mystic gift of walking barefoot on hot rocks and
coming out unscathed is a legend that your host Sisa will explain as you
take a cocktail cruise down
Malumu
Bay to the firewalking
beach.
Gathering with the local villagers around the carved wooden
bowl, sharing their kava, listening to the music and telling stories, is
what our Kava Sessions are all about. A good time is had by all.
Meke ---- Fiji Islanders are also very spirited about their
music and dance, so come and watch the local young people in their
traditional Fijian event of singing and dance.
With food cooked in an underground hot rock oven, our Lovo
nights are a taste of a typical Fijian feast. Starting with Koconda and
finishing with homemade coconut ice- cream (not exactly a Fijian tradition)
the middle is filled with pork, fish, chicken, polysomo, dolo, vundi, and a
stuffed pumpkin that will have you calling for seconds.
Supporting sustainability on remote
Beqa
Island is what Lalati
Resort strives for and the remuneration by the resort for the cultural
events helps support the local villages and to keep the Fijian culture
alive.
Visiting Lalati will be nothing short of a true Fijian
cultural experience. |
