NADI



Nadi is the international gateway for all travellers to the South Pacific. Nadi is also the gateway to the Yasawas and Mamanuca islands where leisurely options include laid back surfer camps and exclusive hideaways.  Nadi is where you’ll find the most visitor facilities in Fiji and, of course, the greatest number of souvenir shops. Also known for an ancient therapy mud bath at the Sabeto’s Outback.

Highlights of the region:

Garden of the Sleeping Giant established by US actor Raymond Burr, the finest South Indian temple Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple at the end of Nadi town. Sailing a tall ship or catamaran to the Mamanuca group for a day, explore various dining options and shopping centres at the new complex on Denarau Marina. Fascinating rides with Jet Fiji through undisturbed mangroves and mud baths.

CORAL COAST:
The Coral Coast on the South West of Viti Levu has some fantastic beaches. Stretching from Pacific Harbour to Sigatoka, this beautiful coastal area has attracted many hotels. The Queens Road is sealed and largely hugs the coast; unsealed roads head inland off the highway and up into the highlands. Both Sunbeam Transport and Pacific Transport have regular buses along the Queens Road.

Highlights of the region:
Ka Levu Cultural Centre, Sigatoka Sand Dunes and the Tavuni Hill fortification lies across the river from Sigatoka as well as cannibal caves and a waterfall tour. Visit Nayawa village to see pottery making or a day trip to Robinson Crusoe Island. There is a Coral Coast scenic railway trip to Natadola beach one of the most pristine beaches on the Coral Coast. There is Kula Bird Eco Park. Diving is available at all resorts as well as rafting or bilibili tours include village visit and cave exploration.



PACIFIC HARBOUR REGION

Pacific Harbour, known as the “Adventure Capital of Fiji”, a  45 minutes drive from Suva, offers a choice of good hotels and restaurants. There are superb diving and fascinating windows into the undersea world, a world-class surfing break at Yanuca Island. Inland are the rolling grasslands of the Namosi Highlands.

There are frequent Pacific Transport and Sunbeam Transport buses travelling the Queens Road between Lautoka and Suva.

:
The Arts Village, brings to life Fijian culture, surfing at the famous most world class Frigate Passage south of Beqa island. Various dive and snorkelling sites in Beqa Lagoon. Take an inflatable raft and kayak down the Navua and Luva Rivers with Rivers Fiji, Discover Fiji tours, Xtasea Charters, day picnic on Yanuca Island, experience jet skiing in the open waters around Beqa Island        

SUVA:
Is the largest city in the South Pacific and has become an important regional centre; students from the Pacific region and a growing expat community make up a significant chunk of the population. Suva is Fiji’s political and administrative capital and home to almost half of the country’s population.

Suva is a blend for many colours and surprises. Eat out and buy right, talk shop or window shop, and do keep a look out for bargains during your stay.

Highlights of the region:

Fiji Museum, City sights include fine colonial buildings, Roman Catholic Cathedral, Government Buildings, bustling city markets, the Suva Yacht Club, the Fiji Golf course, hiking trip with the Rucksack Club. Nightlife includes cinemas, nightclubs, restaurants and bars 



NAUSORI:

Nausori is the second-largest international airport in Fiji. Located on the eastern bank of the Rewa River, about 19km northeast of downtown Suva. It is a bustling service centre and transport hub for the largely agricultural and manufacturing industry workers. If you’re passing through, there are a few banks and inexpensive eateries near the market and bus station.

Highlights of the region:
Wilderness Ethnic Adventure, visit Nasilai Village for pottery making, visit Naililili Catholic Mission, Uru’s Waterfall, Wailotua snake god cave.

RAKIRAKI
Rakiraki is located on the northernmost tip of Viti Levu Bay. The scenery is stunning along the Kings Road winding down from the mountains from Dama past Viti Levu Bay and to the beautiful region of Rakiraki. The climate on the northern side of the Nakauvadra range is similar to that of western Viti Levu, drier and suited for growing sugar cane.

Some 30 minutes to the north of the Nadi International Airport is Lautoka, the second-largest city in Fiji.

Highlights of the region:
Udreudre’s tomb, adventure water sports, Naiserelagi Catholic Mission known as the church of the Black Christ.

 MAMANUCA GROUP
There are about 20 islands in the group, basking in a large lagoon formed by the Malolo Barrier Reef and Viti Levu. The Mamanucas are movie stars, Fiji’s glittering jet set, forever photographed and feted, valued for their natural beauty.

These are considered among the most beautiful islands in the country with miles of white sand beaches and coral blue waters, providing a tropical experience in comfortable surroundings.

Highlights of the region:
Snorkel in azure water straight from the beach, Dive among big fish and harmless sharks. Annual regatta is a magnet for yachts from all over the world. A range of beach, water, land activities are organised through the resort’s activities desk. 



YASAWAS

The Yasawas form a chain of 20 ancient islands famous for crystal blue lagoons and some of the Pacific’s most ethereal beaches.
The islands have white sandy beaches and crystalline waters, lush tropical rainforests and soaring volcano peaks that attract the refreshing tropical rain. The Yasawas are accessed daily from Port Denarau and Lautoka by fast catamaran and resort water taxis or by seaplane from Nadi.

Highlights of the region:
Work the pins and hike across Waya. Kayaking safaris along the Yasawa chain. Guided hiking trips. Visit Sawa-I-lau limestone island caves. Join in a village fish drive (only on special occasions). Attend a church service on Sundays. Dive and snorkel with Westside Watersports. Many resorts offers island hopping and sunset cruises. Visit Blue Lagoon or Champagne beach.

LEVUKA:
Ovalau is the largest island in the Lomaiviti Group. Levuka is the one of very few places in the South Pacific that still has a significant number of colonial buildings. You will find the people friendly, prices low, and many historical sites and buildings in town.

Highlights of the region:
Hike around Lovoni. Wander Levuka colonial streets. There’s snorkelling, diving, dolphin and whale watching. Epi’s Midland Tour. Hire a 4-wheel drive and tour around the island. Waitovu Tour, Sisilana Village Tour. Talanoa Tours and Wainaloka Tour. Nasova House and the town’s tuna cannery. Sacred Heart Church and the site of Fiji’s cession in 1874

SAVUSAVU
Savusavu is Fiji’s best-kept secret, a natural, lush and beautiful hidden paradise on the south of Vanua Levu.  A  big, calm bay teeming with fish, fringed by untouched mountains and sparse plantations. Savusavu is the centre of a wonderful range of accommodation, activities and adventures.  The bay serves as a magnificent natural deep-water port with deep anchorage.

The well-known Hot Springs Hotel takes its name from the nearby thermal springs. Locals often cook a meal in these bubbling cauldrons. Yachts arrive here every year on a round the world tour.

LABASA
The “capital” of Vanua Levu is built in the bend of the Labasa River, about 6.5km from it discharges through a delta formed by three rivers, the Labasa, Wailevu and Qawa.

The airport is 5km southwest of the town and has a sealed runaway. A place on interest here includes a floating island regarded with superstitious awe by the local Fijians. The island, about 24km north east of Labasa, floats on a lake surrounded by cane fields and is composed of a dense growth of reeds, sedges, swamp ferns and other small vegetation.

TAVEUNI
The island of Taveuni is a vast and luscious garden: a tropical flower garden on land and a coral garden beneath the sea. It is easy to get to, relatively small and far from crowded.

Taveuni has been the selective traveller’s choice for its rugged beauty and spectacular waterfalls, some of which plunge directly into the sea from the high cliffs of the untouched south eastern shore. Taveuni known as the Garden Island of Fiji with steep slopes and thick rain forest.

Rainbow Reef. Vuna Reef. Wairiki Catholic Mission. Lavena Coastal Walk. Vidawa Rainforest trail. Waitabu Marine Park.

KADAVU
Fringed by the world-renowned Astorable Reef, Kadavu has a number of small resorts catering to scuba divers and those wishing to get away from it all. Unspoilt and with positively prehistoric landscapes, this island sits some 100km below Viti Levu’s southern coast in a florish of emerald green.

The lush, pristine rainforests, especially on the eastern side, support a rich and diverse birdlife that includes the colourful Kadavu musk parrot. The Great Astrolabe Reef skirts the group and hooks its way around the uppermost islands, providing some of the finest diving in the Pacific.
