 |

This extraordinary villa is designed to accommodate just one couple. Two
adults and two children (over 8, please) are also welcome. |
 |
Children:
Over 8 years welcome year-round. |
 |
Minimum Stay:
Three nights. |
Walking past the resort's picturesque lagoons, Villa guests approach from a
curving stone pathway landscaped with tropical foliage and flowers. Entering the
solid vesi doors, the Daybed Bure, Horizon Edge Pool and al fresco dining area
come into view.
Reflecting their Fijian essence, the structure and materials
feature local thatch, bamboo reeds and hardwood timbers. Underfoot are a 'wood'
deck of recycled materials or imported stone paving. Cotton silk fabrics in
vibrant reef colors enrich the decor.
To the left, the Master Suite features a luxurious bathroom with
a generous spa tub with whirlpool, a two-person indoor shower, chaise lounge,
and two vanities with Aqua glass vanity bowls, copper Bisazza tiles and beveled
gilt mirrors. Stone pillars are lit with custom-made copper 'torchlights.' A
Savusavu builder created the cabinetry.
Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors open onto lush
tropical gardens, where an 11-foot waterfall seems to cascade into the bathroom.
Near the waterfall are a two-person outdoor shower and an outdoor cafi table,
ideal for morning coffee. A separate, enclosed lavatory overlooks this
courtyard.
From the spa, flagstone stairs lead to the upper level,
highlighted by the stunning four-poster canopy bed. Draped with luminous gauze
fabric, the King-sized bed with down pillows ensures a luxurious sleep. Flanking
the stairs, yakka wood, bow-front armoires with bronze handles offer abundant
storage and a generous safe. Copper inlaid night tables offer a mini-bar and
quality sound system with a selection of music and iPod-ready fittings. The room
also features a writing desk, reading chair, bamboo accent table with
candelabra, and copper-beveled mirror. The exotic decor also includes an
imposing Priest Oil Dish, wooden totem carved by skilled Fijian craftsmen, and
eclectic imported furniture.
The Master Suite's doors open fully to a view over the upper
deck, including two sun lounges and side table. Here the Daybed Pergola, three
steps up from the lower deck, overlooks the Horizon Edge Pool - 15 feet wide and
four feet deep - and the ocean and reefs beyond.
To the right of entry is a spacious, relaxed living area (or
second bedroom). It features comfortable lounge seating and convenient
kitchenette amenities, including a stovetop, sink and refrigerator stocked with
complimentary beverages and snacks. A separate bathroom offers an additional
shower and lavatory. This area's doors open onto the alfresco dining deck and
pool, while its picture window showcases the Island beyond. Just past the pool
is another outdoor shower and steps leading to the Villa's private stone patio
and the beachfront.
The Villa's interior features air-conditioning, and ceiling fans
throughout provide a cooling breeze.
Inspired by the Balinese Villa concept, where living outdoors is
integral to the daily experience, the resort's Villa project was designed and
managed by Interior Architect Karen Taylor, who also co-manages the resort with
her husband Greg Taylor. Karen's background includes hotel and resort design,
and project management in Australia and Fiji.

Come enjoy some of the most extensive spa treatments in Fiji.
We offer a variety of massage and spa services for an additional fee,
both in-room and in our spa bure. Our massage therapists are trained by
senior spa staff of our sister property, Post Ranch Inn, in Big Sur,
California. Post Ranch has an international reputation for providing a
comprehensive range of relaxing, healing spa treatments. We constantly
improve and revise our offerings to ensure our extensive spa program
remains at the forefront of the field. Here is an overview:
Bobo Massage
Passed down through generations, this traditional massage is part of a
culture deep-rooted with daily healing rituals for body and soul. A
blend of rich tropical nut oils combines with percussive, long
techniques to stimulate circulation and release tension. Reflecting
centuries of Fijian beliefs, Bobo ends with a sweeping motion of the
body and an exclamation of 'Lako Tani'. With worries and stress
sent away, what remains is a sense of well-being, island style.
Duavata Massage
Relax and indulge in the synchronized touch of this four-handed Fijian
massage, featuring two Spa staff members. This signature treatment
features flowing, dance-like quality that pampers and comforts your
entire being.
Aromatherapy Massage
Soothing to all the senses, this nourishing massage offers the added
advantages of an aromatherapy essential oil blend of your choice. Relax
and restore your body and soul.
Prenatal Massage
Mother and child welcome this soothing treatment. Pillows gently support
the expectant mother in comfort. Please inform us on your stage of
pregnancy to accommodate you better.
Coconut and Pineapple Paradise
Nutrient rich, soothing coconut oil combined with the exfoliating,
anti-oxidant benefits of pure cane sugar promotes glowing, healthier
skin. Natural alpha-hydroxyl present in raw sugar cane gently polishes
the skin, leaving the body smooth and moisturized with a more youthful
appearance. Savor the sweet sensations of the South Pacific.
Island Body Wrap
A gentle, dry brush exfoliation prepares the skin for a massage with
coconut oil, with essential vitamins and anti-oxidants. Hydrating the
skin and detoxifying the system, this treatment naturally restores the
body. A cooling smooth stone neck and facial massage, reducing any
inflammation, complements this warming body wrap and persuades your mind
and body to release any lingering tension.
Dilo and Aloe Body Wrap
This cooling treatment relieves the effects of dehydrated and sunburned
skin. An aloe vera gel combined with the traditional Fijian dilo-nut
remedy aids in faster recovery.
Fiji Facial
This hydrating skincare treatment alleviates the impact of tropical sun
and sea. The combination of bioactive ingredients gently removes
impurities, improves elasticity and nourishes skin. Includes a head and
foot massage. Perfect with a body treatment or massage.
Hair and Scalp Therapy
Rediscover the South Pacific's legendary secret of building hair,
vitamin-rich coconut oil. Lie back and relax under the gentle, rhythmic
touch of dancing fingers. Coconut oil stimulates your scalp to soften,
nourish and strengthen your hair in a caring massage of scalp, neck and
shoulders. Using the best nature has to offer, Pure Fiji natural shampoo
and conditioner then leave your hair soft and revitalized.
Fiji Botanical Fusion Foot Therapy
This ritual begins with a soothing coconut milk foot soak and
exfoliating sugar rub. A rich clay mask blended with our organic
garden's hibiscus and herbs is then applied to the feet. While the mask
sets, the lower legs are massaged with tropical nut oil, promoting
further circulation. Finally, a moisturizing, coconut butter foot
massage and steamed towel wrap soften and revitalize weary feet. Delight
in life's daily journeys.

Weddings & Resort Wedding Packages
A wedding is a highlight of your life. Celebrating your marriage in
Fiji, with us at Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort, will be a
joyful experience you will treasure always. Let us help you plan the
wedding of your dreams!
Fiji Wedding - On the Beach at Sunset
Many weddings at our resort take place on a private expanse of
beachfront at sunset. It is customary for two Fijian Warriors to carry
the bride up the beach to her groom. The procession is accompanied by
the blowing of conch shells and beating of Lali drums.
The marriage ceremony can be performed by a minister, priest or
celebrant, as the couple prefers. We offer three choices for music
performed during the ceremony: our string band, the Fijian Village Choir
or the Church Choir.
Fiji Wedding Packages
Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort offers several types of
weddings that capture the essence of the romantic dreams that couples
have for their special day. We can also work in partnership to design a
range of special wedding ceremonies to suit any style and budget.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A WEDDING LICENSE
A current passport, birth certificate, and proof of annulment or divorce
(if appropriate) are required. The marriage license can be arranged at
the District Office in Savusavu. Appointments must be made during normal
office hours: Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm, Saturday 9 am-12 pm. We can also
arrange for the license to be obtained in Nadi (for an additional
charge) if the District Office in Savusavu is closed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CATHOLIC WEDDINGS
Couples are to check exact details (well in advance) directly with their
local priest in their home Parish. The following is an example of
mandatory requirements: proof of baptism, letter of permission to marry
obtained from local priest containing a statement of freedom to marry
and confirmation of completion of marriage preparation program. The
paperwork must be sent (well in advance) to the priest in Fiji.
Resort Wedding Package
The Grand Wedding Ceremony - "Vaku Mau Levu"
A Grand Event
Against the stunning background of Savusavu Bay, the singing of the
village choir and the beating of the lali drum signal that the wedding
ceremony is about to begin.
Fijian warriors in traditional dress escort the groom to await the
bridal procession at the "altar," which is lovingly decorated with palm
fronds and tropical flowers. The groom assumes his position and the lali
drum begins a wedding beat. The bride is escorted down the jetty by
Fijian warriors to the awaiting bili bili, a bamboo raft festooned with
tropical flowers.
As the bili bili makes its gentle journey across the bay, the
procession is accompanied by the unique sound of the davui (a conch
shell) that is blown by a warrior on the raft to announce the bride's
arrival. The bili bili is met by awaiting Fijian warriors, who lift the
bride ashore and escort her to her awaiting groom and their guests.
These activities are accompanied by the joyful a capella singing of the
village choir.
Once the traditional Western ceremony is complete, the Fijian
warriors lead the newlyweds onto the bili bili for their romantic
journey back to the dock. Selected guests may be invited to await the
arrival of the couple, who are fêted with Champagne and savouries as the
bay reflects the setting sun.
The wedding party is invited then to a traditional Fijian Kava
ceremony that creates a "spirit of place" for this day that will become
etched as a magical memory of a lifetime.
The festivities continue among friends with Wedding Cake, Champagne
and many congratulations. Afterwards, the newlyweds enjoy their Wedding
Feast, which, as they prefer, may be a private dinner for two on the
pier, or an intimate banquet with their island friends. The Bula Boys
serenade throughout the dinner.
A Fijian Meke may also be arranged for an additional fee, featuring
traditional dances and songs.
* Please note the timing of The Big Wedding is dependent upon tidal
and sunset constraints, and weather conditions.
Resort Wedding Package
The Special Wedding Ceremony - "Vaka Mau Lai Lai"
Tradition and Ceremony, Fiji Style.
With the waters of Savusavu Bay as a picturesque backdrop, the start of
the wedding ceremony is announced by the singing of the village choir
and the beating of the lali drum.
Fijian warriors escort the groom to await the arrival of the bridal
procession at the "altar," beautifully decorated with tropical flowers
and palm fronds. As the davui (a conch shell) is blown, the bridal
procession begins. Carried aloft by Fijian warriors on a throne
decorated with tropical palm and flowers, the bride is presented to her
groom and their guests.
Once the traditional Western ceremony is complete, the Fijian
warriors escort the newlyweds to a traditional Fijian Kava ceremony that
creates a "spirit of place" for this joyful day that will be remembered
forever.
The celebration continues with Champagne, Wedding Cake, selected
friends, and many congratulations. Afterwards, the newlyweds enjoy their
Wedding Feast, which, as they prefer, may be a private dinner for two on
the pier, or an intimate banquet with their island friends. The Bula
Band boys serenade throughout dinner.
Resort Wedding Package
The Intimate Wedding Ceremony - "Vaka Mau Levu Lai Lai
US $945 + 15.5% tax
A Special Event, Plain and Simple.
This wedding offers the features of the previous Little Wedding
Ceremony, with these exceptions:
It does not include the village choir singing prior and after the
ceremony. Instead, the beginning of the ceremony is announced by the
blowing of the conch shell.
The bride is not presented to her groom by Fijian warriors on a
flower-festooned throne, rather she walks to the altar.

three wedding options. |
Other Important Notes on Fiji Weddings:
Wedding Attire: Marriage celebrants may wear the wedding
attire of their choice, including traditional Fijian garments, available
at the resort. Fijian wedding garments are made from Tapa Cloth. Tapa is
bark from an indigenous, non-endangered tree pounded into a fine cloth
and hand decorated with traditional patterns of the Fiji Islands.
Video Recordings: Couples who wish to relive their island
nuptials at home may arrange a video recording of the ceremony and
celebration for a fee of USD$650 + 15.5% VAT.
Special Requirements for Roman Catholics: If a Roman Catholic
Priest is desired, couples must bring the following documents from home
and present them in Fiji: Baptism Certificate, written confirmation of
the right to marry from one's own Parish Priest with written
recommendations (for practicing Roman Catholics). In addition, the
couple must have at least one meeting with the Priest in Savusavu before
the ceremony, which can also be arranged when signing the application.
Marriage License Requirements
Marriage License applicants must possess a valid Passport, Birth
Certificate and annulment papers if divorced. The couple must go
together to the Savusavu Crown Law Office to sign the application and
pay the Marriage License fee of USD$11. The wedding must take place
within 28 days of the application's signing.
The resort will organize these requirements for the couple and arrange
for the marriage celebrant. |
