In the interests of maintaining the quality of the Castaway Island
experience, our policy is set to limit a maximum of four persons per
bure (or up to ten persons in our one family beach bure).

Each traditionally thatched bure features a high vaulted "tapa"
lined ceiling with overhead fans. In most bures, sleeping
and living quarters are separate with the emphasis being on
privacy and comfort. All bures feature quality island style
furnishings, fabrics and linen. Additionally a refrigerator
together with tea and coffee making facilities are provided.

shower, toilet and vanity area complete with hairdryer and
toiletries with a Fijian flair. |
Castaway Dining
Your day
starts with a Castaway buffet breakfast including Fiji's tropical fruits
and juices, cereals, a selection of hot dishes and accompaniments
including bacon, sausages, eggs any style, fresh baked croissants,
hotcakes and Danish pastries, tea selection and fresh brewed coffee. Our
all day casual dining menu features light snacks and meals throughout
the day to early evening.
At night we dine alfresco under a canopy of Castaway stars
overlooking the clear waters of the Pacific. Our a la carte menu
features the freshest Fijian seafood and crustaceans, with prime grade
beef, poultry and local Fijian specialties together with fresh
vegetables, crisp salads and crusty home baked breads - complemented by
a hand selected wine list. Additionally our gourmet wood fired pizzas
available in the Sundowner Bar are not to be missed.
The
Sundowner Bar
Our Italian style gourmet wood fired pizzas featuring a thin, crisp
base and delicious topping alternatives are offered at our Sundowner
Bar.
The Sundowner Bar is open for drinks, gourmet pizzas and snacks from
11:00 am to 10:00 pm, with happy hour from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. During
happy hour the Sundowner Bar is a child free environment.

A magnificent starlit setting at the water's edge is enhanced by the
music and songs of the "Castaway Islanders" with their acoustic guitars
and island style bass. Covered breeze-conditioned dining in our "Bure ni
Vutu", bure beside the vutu tree, is adjacent to our water’s edge
terrace.
MEAL PLAN: Our Castaway Island meal plan offers breakfast,
lunch and dinner with unrestricted choice from all our menus including
theme nights, at a daily set price. The meal plan may be purchased on
the island and is flexible recognizing various arrival and departure
times. The meal plan does not include alcoholic beverages, soft drinks
and specialty coffees.
All meals are served at our Water's Edge Restaurant or the Sundowner
Bar.
Wednesday Fijian
Feast and Meke
Our traditional Fijian Feast is served every Wednesday evening. You will
want to witness the lighting of the fire, built over dry river stones in
the fire pit. Once the stones are white hot this traditional earth oven,
or Lovo, is ready to receive seafood, meats and root crop vegetables
prepared by first wrapping in banana leaves and palm fronds. The food
parcels are then placed on those stones and covered whilst cooking. This
unique method delivers truly delicious food for our buffet feast with a
sensational island flavour.
Your Castaway family will perform a traditional Meke of Fijian songs
and action dances at 6:30 pm followed by the Fijian Feast at 7:00 pm.
Don't forget...'no sulu, no dinner’!
Saturday Beach BBQ
Castaway's barbecue is featured every Saturday from 7:00 pm. Enjoy
chargrilled steaks, chicken and fish Fiji style with crisp salads,
homemade pastas, curries, local Fijian vegetables and more. Join in the
beach party with the Castaway Beach Boys - fun and games for all to
enjoy.
Resort Manager's
Cocktail Party
Come and meet our resort management team every Wednesday night from 6:00
pm to 7:00 pm, poolside or at the Main Bar Terrace. Enjoy a glass or two
of our 'Liquid Sunshine' whilst taking in the setting sun and enjoying
the company of new friends.

The "Lali" or main bar opens at 8:00 am and closes when the last person
leaves. The Sundowner Bar is open for drinks and our famous gourmet wood
fired pizzas and snacks from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm with happy hour from
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. During happy hour the Sundowner Bar is a child free
environment.
Staff Policies
All the Castaway Island family are free to mix socially with you during
your stay. However, please be aware of our policy that staff may not
consume alcohol whilst on the Island. Please avoid embarrassment to
yourselves and them by upholding this policy.
Scuba
Diving
Castaway
Diving is an acclaimed PADI dive operation, having the distinction of
being awarded PADI International Five Star Gold Palm status, which is
the highest recognition PADI awards to its resort members.
At Castaway Island scuba diving is an activity for the whole family.
There is something for everyone no matter what level of experience you
have. For those that have never tried scuba diving we have introductory
courses – a great way to discover the underwater world. Even children as
young as age eight can try diving under the supervision of our PADI
accredited instructors in our PADI Bubblemakers program.
For certified divers we have shark and moray eel encounters and
exploratory dive trips as well as a whole range of diver’s gadgets to
try out!
Our current dive facility includes the following:

equipment and wetsuits
Dive boat 'Sokia' - acknowledged as the fastest and most
comfortable dive boat in Fiji, this 30ft aluminum mono-hull with
twin 200hp Yamaha four strokes can take up to 18 divers to over 20
dive sites within 20 minutes of the resort.

DIVE
BOAT
The "Sokia", meaning "Angel Fish" in Fijian, is Castaway Diving’s
custom-built, 30ft aluminium dive boat. The Sokia is a mono-hull,
powered by twin 200hp four stroke outboard engines, making her one of
the fastest and most stable platforms from which to dive in Fiji. The
Sokia is fully surveyed and equipped for safety and can take up to 18
divers quickly and comfortably to any of the many dive sites surrounding
Castaway Island.
When you combine the Sokia with our professional dive team who have
over 50,000 dives amongst them, you end up with a safe, enjoyable,
relaxed diving experience that is second to none: just the way diving
should be.
Activities
Whether you decide to windsurf, paddleboard, or sail a catamaran
around the lagoon, it's all in a day's activity at Castaway. View the
living coral reef by snorkeling or through a glass bottomed boat – all
with our compliments. Use of watersports equipment is available free of
charge. You might want to spend an afternoon around our beautiful
swimming pool or play a set of tennis at sunset. Join us on the beach
every afternoon for Fiji vs. the world in beach volleyball. Board games
are also available for those who prefer something less energetic.
ACTIVITIES WHERE CHARGES APPLY
Castaway guests have the option to participate in activities such as
banana boat rides, SCUBA diving, waterskiing, parasailing, jetskiing and
outer reef snorkeling trips at an additional cost.
Our award winning PADI Dive Center offers a wide range of SCUBA
courses for beginners through advanced divers.
Take an island safari in style on Fiji's fastest speedboat, 'Teivovo',
cruising around our neighboring Mamanuca Islands with a delicious
champagne picnic lunch on the way: a must-do activity while on Castaway.
Join our handline fishing expedition Monday through Saturday evenings
from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Try the exhilaration of parasailing over the
sparkling waters surrounding the island or jump on a jetski and
experience the rush of 30 mph on water!
Watersports
Watersports equipment including windsurfers, catamarans, paddle
boards, spyboards, snorkels, masks and fins are all available free of
charge.
Banana
Boat Rides
Fun for everyone, the big banana will take you for an exhilarating
and totally fun trip all the way around Castaway Island.

We provide a complimentary service for all children 3 years of
age and over from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm,
with a separate, supervised children's dinner hour from 5:30 pm
to 7:00 pm.
The kids will enjoy a mixture of games and experience with a
definite Fiji flavour - loads of fun and entertaiment.
