Batiluva Beach Resort is built on a private coral sand
beach, backed by lush tropical forest. The grounds are
grassed and are beautifully maintained.
Our accommodations are clean and simple, with two double
rooms, and three dorm rooms (sleeps four each), all with
cool water showers and toilets. At night tiki torches and
lanterns light you way.
The simplicity of our resort set amongst this natural
paradise will leave you with an overwhealming feeling of
calm and tranquility.
Cusine
There is always plenty of food on offer, beginning with
cereals and a cooked breakfast each morning, sandwiches
and snacks for lunch, an afternoon appetiser when you
return from the surf, and a big buffet style dinner each
evening.
All our meals are prepared fresh daily, and we take
great pride in providing an exceptional variety of
quality dishes. Tea and coffee are available all day.
Activites
Not everyone is here to surf, and at Batiluva there
are many activites to keep you entertained. Sunbath
on our white sand beach, laze in a hammock, swim,
snorkle or kayak right in front of the resort.
Take a walk to the island village and meet the
chief, then with his permission you may explore the
rest of the island. There are magnificent views of
the Beqa lagoon from the top of the hill.
Our location in the centre of the world famous Beqa
Lagoon gives you access to some of the best scuba
diving in Fiji. We can arrange for a certified dive
company to collect you from our resort.
After dinner choose from a selection of DVD's, or
enjoy a cold beer in the warm night air.
Surfing
Frigate Passage is a powerful left-hander that
breaks over a relatively smooth coral reef. The wave can hold up
to a solid tripple over-head, and rearly does it drop below
head-high. Rides of 100 meters or more are not uncommon.
With the prevailing south-easterly trade winds blowing
off-shore, and it's exposed position to southern ocean swell,
Frigate Passage is one of the most consistant surf spots not
only in Fiji, but also the South Pacific.
Offshore in any easterly quater wind, Frigate Passage breaks in
any southerly quater swell, and breaks well through all tides.
Frigate Passage is one of the worlds premier surf breaks, and
Batiluva Beach Resort provides the best means available for
surfers to enjoy the uncrowded, quality waves.
Our deep water beach allows our boats to depart for Frigates at
any tide. Normally you'll be surfing by 8.30am, and a packed
lunch on the boat means you can stay at the reef and surf all
day.*
Frigates can range from super fun to super
heavy, so it's worth bringing a shortboard, something for
mid-size days, and something a bit bigger for the huge days!
Frigates pumps all year
round. Southern hemisphere winter swell offers consistantly
larger surf from May - August, but Frigates exposed position to
south swell means that there are smoking, uncrowded and glassy
waves during the summer months of December - March. Swell
travels up the Tasman sea between Australia and New Zealand, and
takes 3.5 days from the top of the North Island of New Zealand
before reaching us.
Fishing
The boat ride to and from the reef provides a
great opportunity to troll for a wide variety of game fish.
Often you'll return from the surf with a catch of Yellow-Fin
Tuna, Mahi-Mahi, Spanish Makeral (Walu), Trevali or Wahoo.
(Please bring your own lures.)
*Departure & return times are decided among surfers.
Batiluva
Beach resort is located on beautiful Yanuca Island off the south
coast of Viti Levu (Fiji’s main island) and surrounded by a pristine
barrier reef. The area experiences a tropical climate all year round
– average maximum temperatures are 31ºC in summer and 29ºC in
winter.
Visitors fly into Nadi International Airport.
Because many flights arrive at Nadi during the early hours of the
morning, we suggest you book our taxi to meet you at the airport and
bring you directly to our office in Pacific Harbour.
The taxi ride from Nadi to Pacific Harbour takes
around two and a half hours, and the boat ride to Yanuca Island
takes around half an hour. You can get a little wet on the boat ride
if it's windy.
The boat ride from Batiluva Resort to Frigate
Passage takes between half and hour and an hour, depending on which
boat is used.
